In direct retaliation to a lawsuit filed against infamous Broward County, he was arrested three times and eventually had his business seized. He was first arrested 24 hours after filing the complaint sparking continued harassment that has left him facing prison time and financial ruin.
Through this experience, Mike has learned a lifetime of lessons about small business. Empowering entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into a reality has become his never ending mission. July 17, 2020 - Broward County mandated forced facial coverings while exercising.
July 26, 2020 - Mike Carnevale filed a lawsuit against Broward County in response to emergency order 20-22 represented by State Rep. Anthony Sabatini.
July 27, 2020 - Just one day after filing the lawsuit, Broward County was at Mike Carnevale's gym telling him he needed to close for 24 hours. After respectfully declining closure, Mike was arrested and spent 12 hours in jail.
Press release the following day concludes "I am highly interested in dialogue with Broward County that addresses these issues amicably for the safety of our communities."
August 6, 2020 - Broward County continued to persecute and harass Mike Carnevale for not backing down from his position that forced facial coverings during exercise was ineffective public health. He was again ordered to close his doors, this time for 96 hours. Once again he respectfully declined and was arrested for a second time. Mike spent another 12 hours in jail.
August 7, 2020 - To continue servicing his community while remaining compliant to the 96 hour closure, Mike and Jillian pulled equipment into the parking lot of their gym. Inexplicably, they were both arrested for seemingly no reason. Mike and Jillian spent 9 hours in jail and were ordered to close the gym for 11 days.
September 25, 2020 - Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-244, negating personal fines and business closures relating to mandate violations.
October 15, 2020 - Broward County Judge Natasha DePrimo, seen on a political flyer with Mayor Dale Holness and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz signed off on a "writ of possession." This removed Mike and Jillian from their life's work and their life savings. It also negatively impacted the wellness of their 2,000+ member community as the gym remains shuttered.
February 10, 2021 - Broward County Judge Robert Diaz, a known political activist, offers Mike a plea deal of 10 days behind bars in Broward County Jail. Judge Diaz was reprimanded in 2005 for being linked to anonymous threatening emails.
March 4, 2021 - Represented by Attorney Cory Strolla, Jillian and Michael Carnevale plead not guilty and declined the plea deal of 10 days in Broward County Jail.
May 12, 2021 - Governor Ron DeSantis grants Mike and Jillian Carnevale a 60 day reprieve in front of a live audience on Fox News. The surprise reprieve of their case on "The Ingram Angle" left them shocked, speechless, but more importantly grateful.
May 18, 2021 - With reluctance and hesitation, political activist judge Robert F. Diaz dismisses the case dropping all allegations against Mike and Jillian Carnevale.
June 16, 2021 - Governor Ron DeSantis will be meeting with the Clemency Board and signing a clemency clearing all Floridians of any penalties or charges due to COVID mandates.
